Foxconn International Holdings, the mobile phone manufacturing subsidiary of Taiwan's Hon Hai Group, recently announced that it plans to develop mobile phones based on China's homegrown TD-SCDMA standard. The company stated that its TD-SCDMA mobile phones will likely feature dual-mode capability, leveraging two or more 3G technologies.

ADI recently announced its second-generation CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) radio-frequency transceiver, Othello- 3T AD6552, for use in 3G TD-SCDMA phones. ADI has successfully trial-produced the Othello- 3T AD6552 using TSMC's 65nm process technology.

According to a Xinhua News report, China's MII (Ministry of Information Industry) recently released an industrial mobile videophone standard, which adopts both the homegrown TD-SCDMA and European WCDMA technologies. Currently, the application of this standard is only available for interconnection between mobile terminals.
